Evita Colon is a celebrated writer and performer, first ever Poet Laureate of Lancaster City, creative entrepreneur, editor and publisher of Blk Voices Magazine, and owner of A Concrete Rose bookbar, winebar, and community hub. She is the creator and director of “Speak to My Soul: A Montage of Voices,” a theatrical performance inspired by Lauryn Hill that incorporates theater, poetry and dance. Her spoken word and dance piece “Purple Cries for Blue Skies” was a featured event during the 2017 PA Governor’s Arts Awards Week in Lancaster. Colon wrote “The City,” a poem that kicks off DJ Aktive’s 2019 album “The Tour” and opens a track with Common, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Freeway and Bri Steves. She has also toured London as a part of the Flo Poets collective.
